Synopsis Milos, a retired porn star, leads a normal family life with his wife Maria and six-year old son Petar in tumultuous Serbia, trying to make ends meet. A sudden call from his former colleague Layla will change everything. Aware of his financial problems, Layla introduces Milos to Vukmir - a mysterious, menacing and politically powerful figure in the pornographic business. A leading role in Vukmir's production will provide financial support to Milos and his family for the rest of their lives. A contract insists on his absolute unawareness of a script they will shoot. From then on, Milos is drawn into a maelstrom of unbelievable cruelty and mayhem devised by his employer, "the director" of his destiny. Vukmir and his cohorts will stop at nothing to complete his vision. In order to escape the living cinematic hell he's put into, and save his family's life, Milos will have to sacrifice everything - his pride, his morality, his sanity, and maybe even his own life.

Exceptionally well made, acted, thought out. People that are all disturbed by this..sure it's understandable. But it's a movie, plain and simple. This "unrated" version is still cut, but you're only missing out on 30 seconds of footage or so, it's nothing movie breaking and no scenes have been deleted in their entirety.

this isn't a movie you just stumble into watching, if your even looking into it chances are you know its not a family film. that being said, this is the most well made "shock" film I've seen, and one of the best horror movies of the past two years. also, Ive seen the unedited version and not very much was cut, you certainly aren't missing anything by not seeing those scenes.

This is a sick film, but thankfully FlixFing has the censored version. All of the nasty parts have been edited out.

A Serbian Film was shocking in one major way. Beyond the hyped up graphic nature of the film, and the transgressive "I-Dare-You-To-Watch-This" vibe, the film had one of the best driving narratives I've seen in a horror film in quite awhile. There was only one moment that I felt was self-indulgent on the filmmakers part. The film actually took the time to make you care about what happened to Milos, instead of delivering up a total jerk and then reveling in his destruction. The alegorical element of the film, offering a none-to-subtle indictment on how the Serbian State treats its citizens was highly effective. I'm not saying the film was perfect, and I'm certainly not suggesting that it is for everyone, but to dismiss it is a disgusting waste-of-time only serves to criticize ones own lack of effort to see beyond the shock-value veil of the marketing campaign.

The first time I attempted to watch this movie I had to take several breaks. It was a difficult film to watch, but after a couple of viewings I was not as disturbed by the graphic nature and gore of it all. When you get to the point of completely understanding the meaning and theme of the film, it does make a very serious and true point. Im not saying I agree with what the "director" in the film was doing, but I do have strong negetive feelings about women who are selfish and abuse there bodies with chemicals while pregnant then just toss the child away like a used condom. I really appreciated the meaning behind the gore and would definately recommend it.

Exceptionally disturbing as well as......uh........ sad! Wow! This really reminded me of Stienbeck's 'The Pearl'; just a more sadistic, sexually violent version. I did find the cinematography to be amazing at times, even if the contents on the screen were repulsive. After watching I checked out Wikipedia and read what the writer wanted the viewers to gain from the film. The intended message is very interesting! This was rough ya'll. I don't hate it but I can't like it. Twas' an experience.

Honestly, the reviews that I've seen thus far (here and otherwise) are for the most part unfair. Obviously, there's several gruesome scenes in this movie, as witnessed in the trailer, but it's such a minute part of the film and the worst of the worst is alluded to, rather than shown. The first hour of the film in plot and a few shocks thrown in sporadically. It's the last 40+ minutes that aren't for the faint of heart. To me, this movie's more about what you're willing to do or subject yourself to in order to take care of your family, and ultimately the cost of the choices we make.

With masterful editing and cinematography, this film takes you to the lowest circle of Hell, and explores the dynamics of abuse and victimization. The graphic content that the film has become infamous for is not the central focus but a tool thoughtfully implemented to drive story, themes, and character development while making the viewr think they are in the middle of it all right next to the protagonist. Those who can stomach the grotesque acts on screen may find themselves enlightened at the end. I know I have, and now this film has become my favorite movie of all time. Never have I been so emotionally caught up in a story nor seen these themes explored in this way. Thank you A Serbian Film.
